The owners of The Good Schmidt, LLC, Sarah and Jerod, have many years of experience working in historic artisanal crafts and restoration.
Craftsmen that want to resurrect a dying art have to educate themselves with first hand observation and self motivated trial and error, Sarah and Jerod began creating their own unique items for family and friends. After receiving overwhelmingly positive feedback they decided to try and make their hobby a legitimate business. Sarah focused on building their brand, Jerod worked hard on fine tuning his skills at chair caning, weaving, and woodworking. Sarah and Jerod work together everyday to make their family business successful.
At the heart of The Good Schmidt, LLC is the Schmidt Family.
McKenzie, Jerod and Sarah’s oldest daughter, helher mom in social media marketing and photography while always being available to help with plans for community outreach and education.
Their son, Adam, helps with all projects and acts as an apprentice to Jerod.
Their next oldest daughter, Brooklynn, provides social media help and makes her own jewelry as a young entrepreneur. Brooklynn loves to help prepare chairs for hand caning or other services. During festivals and fairs Brooklynn always helps talk educate our customers
Their youngest, Emersynn, is a jack of all trades, and she has the willingness to help her parents and siblings with whatever they need.
Together, Jerod and Sarah have been a resilient, self-reliant, and hard-working couple and they have instilled those values into their four children. With the love and support of their wonderful team, Jerod and Sarah have established a family-owned and operated company that has a passion and care for their work that is simply unmatched.
The primary focus of The Good Schmidt, LLC is to provide the people of northern Ohio and southern Michigan with quality furniture restoration, hand-crafted home décor, handwoven baskets, chair canning, and much more!
With most furniture stores turning to mass-produced, “cookie-cutter” items, Jerod and his family give customers a unique option for both environmentally friendly and high-quality products. Working from his home-based shop inside of a repurposed, hundred year old barn, Jerod spends long hours creating his products and restoring his clients beloved heirlooms.
As an expert craftsman, he offers individuals the choice of custom and special orders alongside an inventory of ready-made items. All products are hand-made and locally sourced materials are used as much as possible. Besides offering custom products, Jerod plans to provide chair canning and basket-making demonstrations for educational purposes. He is proud of the work he does, and he wants to see his profession continue for many years to come.
The Good Schmidt, LLC is committed to their local community and giving back to their customers. The team is devoted to offering a family-friendly atmosphere and is committed in their work to better their craft. The Schmidts understand the importance of building relationships and love the opportunity to meet people through their work. For them, the relationship does not simply end after the sale is made. They will continue to be an excellent resource for all their customers’ needs.
Jerod and his family love creating unique items that individuals can cherish for a long time. From start to finish, The Good Schmidt, LLC provides the best in customer service and hand-made artisanal crafts.
